20 years of Meyler Campbell History

Meyler Campbell Founded

Founded in August 1999, Meyler Campbell's first three Directors and Shareholders were Anne Scoular, Jane Meyler and Jenny Hough (Jane resigned in 2004, and Jenny retired in 2009); Campbell is a family name of Anne's.

Programme Launched

The Business Coach Programme (now Mastered) was launched in July 2002.


Meyler Campbell's first accreditation was by The Law Society of England and Wales in 2003.

Faculty & Graduation

Anna Phillips and Daniel Burke joined Meyler Campbell in 2004 as our first Faculty Members; today there are 19 Faculty Members. Also in 2004, Meyler Campbell hosted its first Graduation at Merchant Taylors' Hall.

International Students, Coaching Fishbowl & Annual Lecture

Luiz Visconte was the first of many international students at Meyler Campbell. Coaching Fishbowls began in 2005; the legendary Nancy Kline's were in 2010 and 2013. In our first Annual Lecture, Professor Felicia Huppert spoke on the implications of the new longevity.

Chairman & Psychology Distilled Launched

As first Chairman, Sue Cox was our rock in the vital early years, Professor Stephen Mayson succeeded her in 2015-2017; and our current Chairman is Daniel Burke. Psychology Distilled was launched at Imperial College London in 2006.

Chief Supervisor Appointed & Business Panels Introduced

Professor Carol Kauffman of Harvard, and Founder of the Institute of Coaching there, was appointed our Chief Supervisor in 2007. Business Panels were also introduced in 2007.

Worldwide Association of Business Coaches

Meyler Campbell accredited by Worldwide Association of Business Coaches in 2008.

External Assessors

Our first External Assessor was Professor Dominic Houlder; today it is Professor Adrian Furnham.

Association for Coaching

In 2009, the Mastered Programme was accredited by the Association for Coaching.

Harvard Business Review

We were named in the Harvard Business Review's Special Issue on Business Coaching.

Practice Client Scheme

The Practice Client Scheme switched to Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge (having been with London Business School for the previous four years).

Financial Times Guide to Business Coaching

Anne Scoular's book "The Financial Times Guide to Business Coaching" was published in 2011.

EMCC Accreditation

In December 2012 Meyler Campbell was accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).

Partnership with IOC

The Partnership with the Institute of Coaching enabled access for the community to world class research.

CEO Appointed

Catherine Devitt was appointed Meyler Campbell's first CEO in 2016.

Meyler Campbell Re-brand and Unleashed

Meyler Campbell re-brands itself in 2015 to become 'Clear Leaders'. The Unleashed Programme (originally Emerging Leaders Programme) is launched with clients including: King's College London, Dow AgroSciences, Spencer Stuart & Allen & Overy.

John Stopford Scholarship

The first John Stopford Scholarship was awarded in 2017 honouring one of the community's most esteemed members. Since the launch, we have had five John Stopford Scholarship winners.

Meyler Campbell Connected

In September 2018, our membership scheme Meyler Campbell Connected was launched as a unique place to share, discover, and learn with other great coaches.

Unleashed Accreditation

The Unleashed Programme was accredited by the Association for Coaching.

Ignite Programme

The Ignite Programme was launched in partnership with Oxford Saïd Business School.
