A flurry of social media activity this week, as Meyler Campbell supports Mental Health Awareness Week.
Every day we will be posting in our social media accounts – Twitter & LinkedIn – ways in which you can identify and tackle stress, both personally and for your organisation.
Keep an eye out for:
- Meyler Campbell Graduate Katie Driver’s 6 top tips for leaving the office early
- fellow Graduate Richard Martin’s work with employers on understanding stress, and the impact on individuals in the workplace;
- access to the Mental Health Foundation’s “How to manage and reduce stress” downloadable handbook
- a paradoxical TED Talk on how to make stress your friend
- and more!
Stress isn’t unavoidable unfortunately, but it is manageable. Being exposed to stress in this modern age still triggers our body’s natural ‘fight or flight’ response; the blood flow to certain muscles increases adrenaline but in turn decreases our brain function. This leads to the inability to ‘think straight’. If we are kept in this state of stress for prolonged periods it can be extremely detrimental to our health.
The key way to manage stress is to identify the issues as early as possible so that actions can be taken and your stress can be conquered!
