Short History
Meyler Campbell was founded in 1999 as a global centre of expertise for training leadership coaches of the highest calibre, and to host a community that could offer them ongoing support and development opportunities. We have a diverse Faculty of Tutors, each with their own areas of specialist expertise.
At the heart of Meyler Campbell is our generous, lively, and eclectic global community, working in a number of languages right around the world and across all sectors. Fifty percent have leadership positions within organisations, while the other half go on to develop successful business coaching and portfolio careers. Many value having a place to come to for mutual support, networking, and ongoing professional development; some of those transitioning from large firms to freelance life find it vital.
We have always run a rich programme of CPD events each month to ensure continuous learning and sustain each graduate’s network beyond the Programmes.
Then in 2009 that year’s students formed the ‘Class of 09’ group – organising more learning, small dinners, charity fund-raising, and other activities together. That tradition has since been taken up by every yeargroup, who forge a wealth of new connections together quite independently of Meyler Campbell; there are now more than 1000 Meyler Campbell Alumni across Europe, North America and Asia who have done everything for each other from just a friendly coffee in a strange city, to opening doors for significant business development opportunities.
The Mastered Programme (formerly the ‘Business Coach Programme’) was awarded the European Quality Award conferred by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council) and is accredited by the Association for Coaching. Meyler Campbell is also Gold Sponsor of the Institute of Coaching (IoC) at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, and funds the IoC’s global Quarterly Research Digest. The Institute’s founder, Professor Carol Kauffman, served as Meyler Campbell Chief Supervisor from 2007 – 2020. This position is now held by Jon Stokes.
Accreditation
Many fine people with strong business backgrounds plus formal coaching training have come onto the market in the last decade. But confusion remains over how to distinguish between them. ‘Accreditation’ is often offered as the answer – but with over half a dozen competing accrediting bodies in the UK alone, there is as yet no single authority.
For many years we stayed outside the fray, seeking to build Meyler Campbell programmes as a hallmark of excellence in their own right, and we are confident that we have achieved this. However, we recognise that external accreditation is a valuable hallmark of quality.
Meyler Campbell is a world leader in business and leadership coaching and development (Harvard Business Review). The Mastered Programme is accredited by the Association for Coaching, one of the fastest growing and recognised accreditation bodies internationally, and holds an EQA (European Quality Award) as conferred by EMCC (the European Mentoring and Coaching Council).
The Unleashed Programme is certified by the Association for Coaching and has been run successfully at the most senior levels, across a range of sectors including financial services.
