A leadership coach who also continues to practice law as a fractional General Counsel and legal consultant, Sarah’s experience of dynamic media companies, government regulation and complex multilateral organisations brings to her coaching and consulting, a deep understanding of the almost impossible challenges executives face today.
Formerly General Counsel and executive board member at the Guardian Media Group, Sarah led the Guardian’s corporate legal group during the Leveson Enquiry into phone hacking, Wikileaks, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning Snowden investigation. At the European level, she chaired the European News Media Industry Association’s copyright and media licensing consultations with the European Commission (EC).
Now a leadership coach who also continues to practice law as a fractional General Counsel and legal consultant, Sarah’s experience of dynamic media companies, government regulation and complex multilateral organisations brings to her coaching and consulting, a deep understanding of the almost impossible challenges executives face today.
Sarah originally studied Philosophy at UCL before her legal training. Drawing on those values and her 25 years of legal and non-executive board leadership, including with Buzz Feed Inc and then as Group Legal Affairs Director at ITV plc, Sarah coaches General Counsels, individuals moving into C-Suite roles, and CEOs wanting to optimise working relationships with their boards. She also works with leaders in international development, social purpose and arts organisations, who are looking to develop their leadership of mission-driven teams. Her work blends classical (Meyler Campbell-trained) leadership coaching with always a dash of common sense – and ideally humour. She’s currently curious about ‘coaching in the blurred edges’, and psychodynamic approaches.
A trustee of cultural and humanitarian charities for over 25 years, Sarah is Vice Chair of UNICEF UK, a Trustee of the Women’s Prizes for Fiction and Non-Fiction, and Non-Executive Director of the International Catalogue Raisonné Association. She loves words, music, art, books, and Italy, and is married to Harry the Piano.
