Description

Connect & Learn: We invite speakers to share practical techniques, tips and fresh perspectives based on their own knowledge and experience. The events provide new insights for coaches and aim to equip you to do or think something differently as a result of the event.

About the workshop

This workshop is an introduction into Reflexivity, aimed at coaches in training, newly qualified coaches, and experienced coaches not yet exploring reflexivity in their practice. There will be a more advanced event in April 2027 that builds on this session, for coaches who are already using reflexivity in their practice and wish to further explore their understanding.

————————————————–

Following any coaching engagement, most coaches will reflect on the time spent with the client: reviewing what landed well or what energised them, reflecting on where a session did not go as planned, and deciding where you may adapt your approach in the future. But how well can you do this in the moment, with the client right in front of you?

What is Reflexivity?

Reflexivity is ‘in-the-moment’ awareness, and is the process of turning your attention inward to examine your own beliefs, assumptions, behaviours and identity – and then managing the impact of these factors on the quality of our interventions. Our work requires us to navigate interpersonal and systemic relationships with clarity and awareness. Much as we might seek objectivity, our own responses, assumptions and history become part of the story and can interrupt our capacity to be fully present.

What to expect

In this three hour workshop, experienced coaching supervisors William Winstone and Jonathan Males will help you to understand and navigate the different components of reflexivity. You will be invited to bring an anonymised client example with you to the session, to then apply your new learning of using reflexivity to your own client case, and delving into how you can take this further into your coaching practice.

Reflexivity allows us to continually learn and hone our craft, to stay aligned with our values, and ultimately to be of greater service to our clients.

————————————————–

This is Session 1 of 2. Both events can be attended as standalone sessions, but you will have a richer experience by attending both.

You can register for Session 2 here: Building Reflexivity: Personal Foundations in Action with William Winstone & Jonathan Males: Session #2 (Hybrid) | Meyler Campbell
