If you’re convinced that coaching works but are curious to know more about what goes on in the mind to enable the breakthroughs in thinking, changes in behaviour and shifts in direction that as coaches we often witness in our clients, this is the programme for you.
Psychology Distilled is a varied course of practical half-day seminars covering the full sweep of psychology, from Freud to neuroscience. Each session is self-contained, so you can select the one or two topics that particularly grab you, mix-and-match modules to make your own course, or attend the lot and gain a comprehensive yet compressed coverage of the discipline of psychology, as relevant to coaching practice.
Presented by world-class experts Professor Mary Watts, Professor Jon Stokes, Dr Geoff Bird and Course Director Dr Eyal Pavell, each individual workshop will focus on a specific school or aspect of psychology. The sessions will combine a historical perspective, an accessible distillation of the critical theoretical concepts and themes, a practical exploration of how these can be applied effectively in coaching – and a fascinating debunking of some widely-quoted urban myths! The aim is to give participants a useful, highly applicable knowledge of psychology in an engaging, energising and enjoyable way. So alongside lecture-style presentations the seminars will incorporate an interactive element, video clips and individual and group exercises and discussions. You will come away with an insight into the latest research, an understanding of how this actually works in real life and the practical resources to use your freshly-gained knowledge – without having to do a degree in psychology!
The content and format of the programme have been completely refreshed this year, so even if you’ve been to some of the sessions before, you’re bound to find something brand new and intriguing. And if you’re new to Psychology Distilled, you’re in for a treat!
