This March, we were delighted for there to be two community events hosted by our alumni: the first get together of our Northern alumni, and the annual gathering of our well-established alumni cohort in Germany. Both events celebrated the energy, curiosity, and ongoing connection that define the what makes the Meyler Campbell community so special.
Earlier this month, northern alumni gathered in Manchester for an engaging and dynamic peer learning workshop facilitated by Faculty Member Helen Duguid.
Organised by locally based Mastered Alumnus Derrick Watson, the inaugural meeting of the ‘Northern Chapter’ brought together coaches from Leeds, York, Manchester, Cumbria and Shropshire. For some, it was an opportunity to attend an event closer to home; for others, a chance to reconnect with the wider Meyler Campbell community.
In a fun, friendly and insightful afternoon, attendees shared valuable reflections from their coaching journeys. Each highlighted a book that had been particularly impactful for them, and the conversation wove through a range of reflective, conceptual and practical aspects of coaching.
Reflections from the event included:
‘What energy in the room – on a rainy afternoon in Manchester!’
‘Lively, invigorating discussions – and so much fun!’
‘Being in the room not only brought alive a number of pre-existing connections but also enabled lots of new ones to be made as well’
‘Re-ignited my hunger to be amongst the Meyler Campbell coaching community’
Staying Connected
Plans are already being made for a follow up event in the Autumn. If you are in the north and would like to connect with more local alumni as well as know details of the next gathering, we suggest joining the ‘MC Northern Chapter‘ WhatsApp group – simply head to Connected to find out more.
Earlier this month, the Meyler Campbell alumni community came together for two days in Munich, reconnecting over a relaxed Bavarian dinner and welcoming both familiar and new faces. The following day, they met again for a deeper exploration, focusing with faculty member Saverio Grazioli-Venier on this year’s theme: “Peak Performance as a Creative Endeavour.”
Two guiding questions shaped the discussion:
• What does peak performance mean for each of us?
• What do we need to practise to sustain it?
What stood out was the richness of perspectives – from sport and business to leadership, organisations, and the worlds of music, acting, and art. A shared insight emerged: peak performance is not just about pushing harder – it’s about creating the conditions that allow the best of us to emerge.
Central to this are play and regeneration – not as optional extras, but as core conditions for presence, creativity, trust, and the ability to pause, recover, and renew.
A heartfelt thank you to Saverio Grazioli-Venier for his guidance, and to Meyler Campbell CEO Simon Fenton for joining and contributing to the conversation.
Peak performance isn’t a fixed state – it’s an ongoing, creative practice grounded in awareness, discipline, and the willingness to keep playing.
